NCOA Processing

NCOA (National Change Of Address) is a service provided by private sector companies and licensed by the Postal Service. With 17% of Americans moving each year, it is very hard for mailers to keep their customer lists up to date. You can reduce the costs of your advertising campaigns by running your list through NCOA processing. Each of the records in your database will be matched against national change of address database, and new address will be returned. As long as your customer filled out the change of address form at the Post Office, their name will be matched and updated. NCOA is a very cost effective form of list maintenance. It is required by the USPS on the first class of mail when claming automation discounts. It is a very good tool for improving your delivery percentages on standard class of mail, as well.

Merge/Purge

MERGE/PURGE, simply putting together lists and dropping duplicates. Two separate words, but they always stay together. It is recommended to check for duplicates after merge is completed. Otherwise, you can risk sending the same offer more than once to the same customer or prospective customer. Not only it will cost you more than anticipated, but it also sends a bad message about the product or the service you are trying to offer.

CASS Certification

CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) certified address standardization. There are many advantages to running address standardization on your list. CASS will correct missing zip codes, add plus4 and DPBC (delivery point barcode) codes needed for bar coding. CASS will correct your addresses making them comply with the USPS addressing standards, therefore reducing undeliverable pieces. But, the most important thing, it will verify the addresses on your list against valid national addresses database.
